Sunday Brunch | Caramel Cinnamon French Toast Bake

30 Apr

If French Toast met Cinnamon Rolls and they fell in love and had a child – it would be this. It’s basically a breakfast bread pudding, but this could probably be served for a dessert too, and no one would hold it against you.

Snickerdoodle Cupcakes

27 Apr

I have a soft spot for cupcakes. I also have a soft spot for snickerdoodles, so when I saw these beauties on Pinterest – I knew I had to try them. When I was little, my nan used to make the best snickerdoodles – ever. Mine never turn out quite the same and I highly doubt they ever will. But food always tastes better when someone else made it, right?

Homemade Pop Tarts with Vanilla Bean Glaze

24 Apr

These really shouldn’t be in the same class as the well-known go to breakfast cardboard. These are rich and filling, and although not necessarily healthy – the ingredient list is short and I can even read it without having to sound out some of the ingredient names.

Sunday Brunch | Quiche Lorraine

24 Apr

I’m a sucker for quiche. I love it – it’s cheesy and filled with delicious vegetables, but I have a special spot in my heart reserved for Quiche Lorraine. That’s because it has bacon in it.

I’m fairly certain if I had to eat only 5 foods for the rest of my life, bacon would be there – right next to mushrooms and cheese. I used a thick cut smoked bacon, Wright brand, the first time I made this.

Sinful New York Cheesecake

17 Apr

I don’t like cheesecake. I know, it’s weird. Everyone likes cheesecake – it’s fluffy & creamy & beautiful. But for me, it just gets stuck in my throat and the texture is slimy. Well, this cheesecake has converted me. It’s thick and rich, but not slimy. I think this might have been one of my fiance’s favorite desserts that I have prepared.

Banana Nut (less) Bread or What I Got for My 21st Birthday

16 Apr

Now, I bet you’re curious about what I received for my 21st birthday. Well, it wasn’t Banana Bread. It was, however, a peanut allergy. Who gets a peanut allergy at the ripe ol’ age of 21? Me, of course. I can’t even have other nuts that may have come in contact with peanuts at some point in their production.

Oh, well. It could be worse – at least it wasn’t shellfish. Anyway, the point is, my Banana Nut Bread comes nut-less these days. It’s okay though, because with this recipe for Banana Nut Bread – it’s just as good without the little lousy legume.

Goldilocks’ Apple Pie

16 Apr

This apple pie is wrong. If you love apple pie & can’t trust yourself when it’s around – do not make this. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this pie, except that the recipe only makes one. It’s not tart, but it’s not overly sweet either. This would be Goldilocks’ apple pie.
